When You Arrive

The CCC is designed to try to take as much of the stress and inconvenience as possible out of the process of consultation, diagnosis and treatment.

On arrival at the Centre patients are received by a dedicated assistant, who remains close to the patient before, during and after treatment. This Patient Manager is the main link between the patient and the clinical facility and is available to answer questions, provide information and to take the patient to all relevant consultations and exams. The Patient Manager is fully available to give all relevant details and information even when the patient is not in the centre. While in the CCC, our patients should not feel restricted to a waiting room before their appointment and may feel free to enjoy the interior garden in the knowledge that their patient manager will find them at the right time. This highly personal service also offers a level of discretion, ensuring that patients will be spoken to personally by their Patient Manager instead of called by the reception.

Another major feature of our patient care system is the implementation of a multidisciplinary disease management system. Upon arrival patients are seen by a group of experts rather than by a single physician representing a single type of expertise. All patients are therefore examined by several different experts who then meet to discuss each individual case while the patient is still in the clinic in order to select the best approach to each disease.

In the area of oncology this group comprises medical oncologists, surgeons, radiotherapists as well as experts in the diagnosis of each type of disease. For neuropsychiatric patients the multidisciplinary team includes physicians from the area of psychiatry and mental health, and neuropsychologists, who work in close collaboration with specialists from nuclear medicine, neuroradiologists, nurses and researchers from the Champalimaud Neuroscience Programme who are dedicated to furthering our understanding of neuropsychiatric disorders.

Where indicated an option of participating in research or clinical trials which may provide a previously unknown advantage will be discussed with the patient and made available.

Our clinical faculty are highly experienced and will discuss all diagnostic tests and treatment options directly with the patient.

Our staff are always on hand to make your visit to the CCC as quick, easy and effective as possible.
